Gemini, too much analysing, too much patronising, makes you un-civilized and un-educated

You don't have to be a rock scientist to work out that if you see someone of your kind is being attacked, you will feel a fire in your belly and want to defend them regardless of the reason for the attack in the first place.

This is how the human race have lived since the big-bang, we associate ourselves by race/ethinicity/tribe/nation/social group/ ... these nitzens are as rational as the rioters in tibet, the Arabs in Plastine, the blacks in the LA riot.

The Tibet situation created a great observation opportunity for all to really understand the Chinese culture. All the posts on the Internet really reflects how Chinese thinks about themselves, about other nationalities within China, about all other people outside of China, etc. These posts from Chinese netizen really shows what the young and literate Chinese are like. They are schooled, literate. But are they civilized and educated ? Can they analyze, and analyze with objectivity ? It is up to you to assess, and, thanks to Internet, there are plenty of evidence.

Your translation of the title is wrong. It would be correct if the original title were "通过强奸建立亲属关系" -- which it isn't. Instead, it's "通过强奸建立的亲属关系" -- with a "的" in there. So the correct translation should be "Close Relationship (better: Family Relationship) Established Through Rape".

Tibet and the trouble with unassailable national myths...

Outside of Young Frankenstein there isn't really any such thing as a "good time" for rioting, but this...

I'm not sure I buy the author's argument, but it is an interesting analysis of the situation. When this whole thing started I naively believed many Chinese would not buy the government line- I find this more disturbing than the admittedly restrained crackdown itself.
The author also has a good point on the definition of "Chinese"- does this mean many Han still think Hans are the "real" Chinese, despite the insistence that Tibetans, Mongolians etc. have all "become Chinese"?
